Biography
Professor Dr. Edgar Selzer is a certified Radiation Oncologist and now serving as the Head of the Institute of Radiation Oncology at the Hospital LK Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria. Before his current position, he served at the Medical University of Vienna at the Department of Radiation Oncology where he led for almost 15 years the Head and Neck Tumor Group. Besides his clinical duties, he was (since 2006) head of the Department of Radiation Biology, which is localized at the same institution. He is a Professor for Clinical end Experimental Oncology with more than 10 years experience in practical laboratory work mainly in the fields of molecular biology (activating mutations in G-proteins) and altered signal transduction in cancer cells. Before entering the clinic, he worked as a university assistant at the Department of Pharmacology in Vienna as well as a laboratory assistant at the Institute of Biochemistry at the University Vienna. He has been consultant and scientific advisor for several major pharmaceutical companies as well as for non-profit organizations, such as the IAEA.
